Wood fired ovens

Two wood-fired ovens have been specially built by Alf Armstrong from Cumbria. Well-known author, food campaigner and founder of the Village Bakery, Andrew Whitley, has been a founding consultant.

Head Baker Roman Kucharski, along with second baker Matthew McCarthy, are now crafting organic sourdoughs and traditional breads from the finest ingredients.

Bread to be proud of

Our bread is made with only flour, water, salt and sometimes a small amount of yeast. We avoid the use of improvers, additives or processing aids as these are unnecessary in the creation of a great loaf and in our diet in general.

We believe products grown/manufactured under organic principles contribute to a more well rounded cycle of food production that takes into account the balance of nature. Not to mention the taste is usually far superior...We devote time, care and attention to our bread and believe that the combination of long fermentation processes, our bakers skill and of course quality ingredients make a loaf with unparalelled depth of flavour and texture.
